*WINCHESTER MODEL 70 SUPER GRADE RIFLE. Cal. 22 Hornet. SN 19790. Pre-war rifle with 24” tapered rnd bbl, ramp front sight with Lyman 17A globe sight, slot blank in the rear dovetail and Lyman 48WJS receiver sight with target knobs. The bbl, in front of the rear sight boss, has been drilled and tapped for a target scope block. The rear receiver bridge is not tapped. It is mounted in a nicely figured 1- pc walnut stock with black forend tip, capped pistol grip, large checkered panel on the forestock and grip with deep cheek piece and checkered steel buttplate. The forestock and buttstock are fitted with factory deluxe sling swivel bases and accompanied by original swivels. The floorplate is marked “Super Grade”. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl and receiver retain 96-98% strong bright original blue. Trigger guard and floorplate retain about 80% original blue with wear on the floorplate and flaking on the trigger guard. Wood is sound with light use and handling marks and a series of sling scratches by the left wrist, otherwise retains most of its original factory finish.
