FINE CAROUSEL HORSE, FREDERICK HEYN. Circa 1900. This diminutive, life-like example of a carved carousel horse is typical of the work of German carver Frederick Heyn for its animated rendering and distinctive size, especially noted in the carving of the mane and saddle cantle. SIZE: 27-1/2″ h. x 40″ l. PROVENANCE: From an East Sangerville, Maine private collection. Acquired in Berlin, Germany. CONDITION: Retains original glass eyes, paint, and tail. Painted surfaces showing moderate wear. We believe the proper right ear to be a later replacement. 9-94940 (3,000-5,000)
