*SCARCE SAVAGE MODEL 99K LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 30-30. SN 338819. Deluxe engraved version of the famous G-Model with 22” tapered rnd bbl, ramp front sight, slot blank in the rear seat, and an early Savage receiver sight. It has very nicely figured marble walnut wood with checkered schnable tip forearm and checkered pistol grip stock with Savage logo serrated steel buttplate. It also has checkered side panels and the receiver is nicely engraved with standard pattern of geometric and foliate arabesque patterns on the sides and small patterns of engraving over the top and over the chamber of the bbl. Accompanied by a Savage factory letter, over the signature of Roe S. Clark, Savage Historian, wherein he states that this rifle is, indeed, a model 99K in caliber 30-30 and was shipped June 15, 1933 to J.B. Davis Arms Co., no address given. He states that the 1933 Savage catalogue lists this rifle at a cost of $75.00. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl retains 95-96% strong bright original factory blue. Receiver retains about 95% original blue, thin and dull on the bottom. Wood is sound with light nicks and scratches to the varnish with the forearm retaining about 90% finish and the buttstock 95-97% original finish. Forearm take down ring is flaked to about 60% dull blue. Lever retains about 75% strong original case colors. Good mechanics, bright shiny bore. 4-52686 JR360 (2,000-3,500)
