GROUP OF 10 LOUIS XVI CARVED DINING CHAIRS, INCLUDING A PAIR OF FAUTEUILS. Last quarter 18th century. This associated set, all similar in form and design, the primary difference being in the treatment of the foot. Six side chairs, originally designed as chairs with caned backs and seats, all with arched molded crest rail and finials, the frontal legs stop-fluted with ringed cuff and ball foot; two additional side chairs in cream paint, similar to the first but with ringed cuff and cylindrical foot. The pair of fauteuils in cream paint, designed for upholstering, nearly identical to those previously described but having onion feet. SIZE: EACH FAUTEUIL: 34-3/4″ h. of back x 22-1/2″ overall w. x 13″ h. of seat rail. Each EACH SIDE CHAIR OF THE SIX: 34-1/2″ h. of back, 15-1/2″ h. of seat rail. EACH CREAM SIDE CHAIR: 34-1/2″ h. of back, 14-3/4″ h. of seat rail. CONDITION: Pair of fauteuils with later paint over original paint, structurally sound. Pair of cream-painted side chairs with later paint over original, addition of large custom seat blocks and restoration to legs at seat, cane seat frames no longer present beneath upholstery.
