SMITH & WESSON #3 RUSSIAN 3RD MODEL REVOLVER. Cal. 44 Russian. Unusual revolver still in the white with 6-1/2” “Russian Model” bbl with integral front sights. Frame and sideplate were never factory polished and have been left in the finial stage with machine marks still visible. Backstrap is cut in three positions for a shoulder stock and there is no serial number or assembly number on the butt. Trigger guard is blued but still has rough machine marks. Trigger and hammer are finished. Bbl, cylinder and latch are all numbered 1091 and appear to have been cleaned to bright metal after having been polished and finished. There are traces of nickel in very sheltered areas. Fitted with 2-pc old pearl grips that have the initials “WB” scratched on the inside. Consignor reports that there are only four other similar revolvers known and that two of them are thought to be incorrect. NSN. CONDITION: Fine, as noted. Bore is strong and dark with light pitting, mechanics are crisp. Extractor gear release pawl has not been correctly fitted and will not release on opening.
