WILLIAM ATWOOD MAHOGANY BRACKET CLOCK, LEWES. Circa 1825. Dial marked “Wm. Atwood / Lewes” (active 1820-1830, Lewes, East Sussex, England). The large and impressive clock of typical form with molded dome cornice and brass carrying handle above the conforming case, mounted with engaged fluted quarter columns centering an enameled convex dial with Roman numeral chapter ring and time/strike/chime apertures. The brass triple-train fusee movement professionally restored. The case on a rectangular plinth raised on four gilded spherical feet. SIZE: 20″ h. x 14″ w. x 9″ d. CONDITION: Works restored and operational, case refinished, convex dial with original paint scratched and with losses, otherwise very good. 9-95366 (3,000-4,000)
