*COLT MEDIUM FRAME LIGHTNING RIFLE. Cal. 44 WCF (44-40). SN 82771. Standard grade rifle with 26” oct bbl, German silver Rocky Mountain front sight and semi-buckhorn rear sight. It has straight grain American walnut wood with uncheckered 2-pc forearm and straight stock with crescent butt. The forearm has a dbl incised line border. CONDITION: Good to very good. Bbl retains 85-90% strong blue. Magazine tube is a silver/gray patina with scattered light rust and light pitting. Receiver retains 60-70% thin original blue with the balance a brown patina and light surface pitting. Wood is sound, missing a few chips by the top tang and has some old gouges on the buttstock, otherwise shows normal use and handling and retains a hand rubbed patina.
