COLT MEDIUM FRAME LIGHTNING RIFLE.

COLT MEDIUM FRAME LIGHTNING RIFLE. Cal. 44 WCF (44-40). SN 20104. Standard grade rifle with 26” rnd bbl, full magazine, hunting front sight, missing the bead and semi-buckhorn rear sight. It has straight grain American walnut wood with checkered 2-pc forearm and straight stock with crescent buttplate. The bbl and receiver have British proofs and the left side of the receiver is marked “Charles Boswell, 126 Strand London”. It has a safety in the front of the trigger guard and is built without sliding breech cover. CONDITION: Bbl and magazine tube retain 50-60% original blue with the balance a mottled blue/gray patina. There is a series of small dings near the muzzle and small nicks elsewhere. Receiver retains 40-50% thin blue with the balance turning to patina and it has light rust pitting over the top. Stock has a couple of large gouges and several small nicks and bruises, but the wood is sound and retains a fine hand rubbed patina. Mechanics are fine, strong bore with moderate pitting. 4-52587 JR326 (750-1,250)
