HISTORICAL & LOVELY STERLING TIFFANY PRESENTATION BOWL. This magnificent sterling presentation footed bowl with cast mounted detail swans on either side was presented to “Miss Henriette Applebee from the Employees of R. W. Smith & Co.”. The reverse depicting a winged cupid blacksmith forging a chain encompassed by a ribbon “January 6, 1875”. The bowl is marked on the underside “Tiffany & Co. 3692 Maker’s 4163 Sterling Silver 925-1000M”. Ms. Applebee was the daughter of Charlie Applebee who was aide to camp for Gen. Uylisses S. Grant during the Civil War. A photograph of Charlie Applebee in GAR uniform, after the war accompanies this lot. SIZE: Bowl: 8-1/2” dia x 6-3/4” t. From swan to swan is 11-3/4” w.
