MERRILL FIRST MODEL CIVIL WAR CARBINE. Cal. 52. SN 19070. 22” rnd bbl. Standard 4-line markings on lockplate and 2-line markings on operating lever. Dated 1864 on tail of lock. No visible cartouche, although many parts have an “O” inspector mark. Brass buttplate, trigger guard, and bbl band. CONDITION: Good. Gray patina mixed with surface rust and light pitting on iron parts, dark patina on brass. Stock is fine with minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. Wm.
