EARLY FULL STOCK FLINTLOCK KENTUCKY. Cal. about 68. Early very long bbl, smooth bore Kentucky with 52-1/2” round bbl, brass front sight and fixed rear sight. Mounted in a fine tiger striped full-length stock with brass furniture secured with four wedges. Sideplate is undecorated brass and the patchbox is undecorated 4-pc brass with leaf style finial. Lockplate, probably an old replacement, is common style and is probably an old reconversion. CONDITION: Iron parts retain an even dark brown patina with some fine scattered surface rust. Brass retains a mellow medium mustard patina. Stock has a crack by the top lockplate screw and a hairline in front of the lockplate. There is an old repair near the nose with a couple slivers missing. There is another small crack back of the top tang. Otherwise, retains most of a very old refinish. Rammer is a replacement.
