NEW ENGLAND MEMORIAL SAMPLER FOR MARY CONANT, 1814. Wrought with linen and silk in blues, greens, and browns by her sister Huldah H. Conant at the age of twelve. The central panel depicting a classical tombstone beneath a stylized willow tree within a floral latticework border interspersed with hearts. SIZE: Sampler: 20-1/4″ x 16″. CONDITION: The sampler has extensive discoloration and oxidation to memorial verses, with isolated spots of insect damage. Mounted in a lemon-gold frame of the period with extensive craquelure and chipping to edges of molding. 9-93027 (1,800-2,200)
