SCARCE COLT LARGE FRAME LIGHTNING CARBINE.

SCARCE COLT LARGE FRAME LIGHTNING CARBINE. Cal. 40-60-260. SN 1192. Standard carbine with 22” bbl, Baker square base front sight and Colt reverse mounted carbine ladder rear sight. The wood is straight grain American walnut with 2-pc checkered forearm and straight stock with checkered carbine buttplate. There is a ring around the magazine tube, which apparently mounted a sling swivel, now missing with a corresponding swivel stud in the stock. CONDITION: Good to very good. Bbl and magazine tube retain 75-80% blue-brown patina with bright blue in the sheltered areas. Receiver is mostly a gray-brown patina with scattered light pitting and some peen marks around the half moon insert on the left side. Wood is sound with a couple of dings in the butt stock and a repair by the lower tang and retains most of an old refinish. Mechanics are fine, strong bright bore with a few spots of light pitting. 4-52597 JR336 (2,000-3,500)
