COLT LARGE FRAME LIGHTNING RIFLE.

COLT LARGE FRAME LIGHTNING RIFLE. Cal. 45-85-285. SN 4727. Standard grade rifle with 28” oct bbl, full magazine, German silver Rocky Mountain front sight and long, fine-adjustable rear sight that appears to have been modified from the original. It has straight grain American walnut wood with checkered 2-pc forearm and straight stock with crescent buttplate. CONDITION: About very good. Bbl retains 75-80% plum/brown patina with strong blue in the sheltered areas. Magazine tube retains a mottled light brown patina and the receiver about 50% thin dull blue with the balance a silver/blue patina. Wood is sound with worn checkering on the forearm, a gouge on the stock, missing a chip by the top tang and with a repaired toe, retains most of an old refinish. Mechanics are fine, strong bore with good shine that should clean better. 4-52575 JR315 (3,000-5,000)
