“SINGLE FLUE” HARPOON. 2nd half 19th century. This complete example retains original hemp wrappings, handle and manila-tarred rope attached to the pole. The iron shaft fitted with a cast-brass single-flue toggle head of the Lewis Temple design, with double-barb configuration. SIZE: 84″ overall l. PROVENANCE: From an extensive private collection. CONDITION: In very good condition overall, but with moderate rusting to iron shaft, which has caused the toggle head to be frozen in the “dart” position. 9-95070-10 (800-1,200)
