CHRISTOPHER HI SHEARER (American, 1840-1926) LANDSCAPE WITH RIVER. Oil on canvas scene shows cascading river lined with tall dark trees. Sunlight glimpse through heavy dark clouds in distance. Signed lower left “C. Shearer”. Housed in a modern silver decorated gesso wood frame with linen liner. SIZE: 30” x 25”. CONDITION: Three small 1/8” splits in canvas in sky. Painting has an early cleaning and possibly may have some inpainting which is hard to decipher. Otherwise very good. 9-97424 (2,500-3,500)
