ATTRIBUTED TO JASPER FRANCIS CROPSEY (American, 1823-1900) “THE HIGHLANDS”. Unsigned large oil on canvas landscape Hudson River scene shows several sailboats on tranquil water with rocky bluffs and mountains. Foreground with tree lined bank. Housed in what appears to be its original outstanding gesso decorated wide frame. Later pencil inscription to stretcher “Jasper Cropsey The Highlands”. SIZE: 24” x 36”. CONDITION: Very dirty. One small 1/2” scrape in lower middle. Otherwise, very good. 9-97429 (3,000-5,000)
