SUPERB LARGE SIGNED CAPODIMONTE CHARGER. This beautiful charger depicts a scene of Napoleon’s retreat from Russia. A detailed image of Napoleon on horseback followed by some of his generals and masses of troops in the background. Image signed by Rogers, housed in an exquisite gilt, cobalt blue and green border. The reverse marked “Comte Harrach Moscow” with a gold crown above “NN”. This charger descended through a Maine family, whose ancestor worked as an ambassador in Russia during the late 19th C. According to the family, it was at this time that the charger was acquired. SIZE: Approx. 14″ d. CONDITION: Very good to excellent. 9-92396 (800-1,200)
