2 WHALING HAND LANCES. Mid-19th century. Each lance with oval blade, the iron shank fitted with a socket for mounting to a wooden pole. The shorter example with widest blade stamped with maker’s initials “U.A.B.”. The longer example with segment of original pole. Both believed to be American examples. SIZE: 1ST: 49-1/2″ l. 2ND: 70-1/2″ l. PROVENANCE: From an extensive private collection. CONDITION: Marked example in very good condition overall.
