OUTSTANDING ANTIQUE LACQUERED RUSSIAN PHOTO ALBUM. The front scene of this beautiful 19th C. lacquered album depicts a scene of what appears to be a priest blessing a robed warrior. A maid attends the affair with a tray of wine. The interior of the album is filled with photographs, some hand colored, of Russian peasants and large city scenes (probably Moscow). The Maine family from which this descended once had an ancestor who was an ambassador to Russia from the United States during the late 19th C. According to the family, it was at this time that the album was acquired. SIZE: 13″t. x 10″ w. CONDITION: The back binding missing and some minor scuffs to the decorative front, otherwise generally good. 9-92399 (500-800)
