UNSIGNED (19th/20th Century) TWO VIEWS OF MT. VESUVIUS. Gouache on paper scene shows Naples harbor as seen in 1868. The eruption of Mt. Vesuvius is seen in one with bright fire, the other with gray smoke. Many boats are seen in the harbor with the city beyond. Titled in margin in white on gray. Housed in black walnut Victorian frames with naturalistic leaf elements and gold liner. SIZE: Sight: 18″ x 27-1/4″. CONDITION: One having light stains, the other with side tears which penetrate image and losses on border. Not examined out of frames. Fair to good. 9-92602 (1,200-1,600)
