21″ BLACK FOLK ART CLOTH DOLL. A most obscure, yet captivating doll, perhaps a mammy with a huge grin and simulated teeth. Constructed of a polished black cotton and wearing time appropriate clothing including red kerchief. Body is of unusual construction and primitive in nature with huge individually sewn fingers along with the unusual shape of her head which is especially noticeable from the profile view. She features painted eyes and brows. Upon close inspection, one can see her nose and nostrils. Probably of small manufacture or individual mommy made. SIZE: 21″. CONDITION: Overall near excellent, some minor soiling, moth wear to clothing. 1-7663 JL (1,000-2,000)
