FINE FRENCH SILVER MOUNTED DOUBLE BARREL FLINTLOCK PISTOL. NSN. Cal. .54. 6-1/4” part oct. bbls. Marked “Joseph” on the right lockplate and “De Lilee” on the left. The solid silver trigger guard has unidentified Belgian proof marks dated 1772. The buttplate, tail pipe, ramrod head and forearm tip are also silver. There is silver wire inlay around the raised carved barrel tang surround. The thumb piece is an armorial crest with a rampant lion and a crowned cartouche carrying the initials “P T R”. The initial cartouche has a three-lobe crown while the armorial has five lobes. Bbls show a strong damascus pattern. CONDITION: All metal has been polished and is fine. There are minor chips and dents on the wood. Mechanically excellent. FS34 4-47776 (3,500-5,000)
