VERY FINE ROPER REVOLVING RIFLE. CAL. 42. SN: 427. 28” rnd bbl. Marked “ROPER SPORTING ARMS CO. / HARTFORD, CONN. / PAT. APR. 10, 1866, JULY. 14, 1868” on the action cover. The rare rifle has the same marking as the shotgun but has an adjustable rear sight at the rear of the action and a Beachfront sight. With an original steel cartridge. From the F. P. L. Mills collection, #57 on his inventory. CONDITION: Excellent. 95% blue on the bbl and brilliant casehardening on the right side of the action, bright on the left. 40% blue on the rifle-style buttplate. Wood has minor dents and scratches.
