RARE NEW ENGLAND JEWELER’S ASTRONOMICAL REGULATOR CLOCK. Mid-19th century. Originating probably in Massachusetts or in central New Hampshire, this fine and unusual example in a walnut Gothic beehive case, the circular upper door with half-round molding and conforming glass panel hinged and opening upwards, the white enamel painted steel dial with hour and seconds dials within the minutes dial on the outer perimeter, the brass works weight-driven and pendulum regulated with maintaining power and dead-beat escapement. The original brass pendulum and weight behind the rectangular, half-round, molded, glass panel lower door; the case sides with viewing windows to the movement; the case edge with half-round moldings; all raised on a molded plinth. SIZE: 60-1/2″ h. x 20-1/2″ w. x 6-1/2″ d. CONDITION: Case and movement both in fine original condition, showing fine patina; dial with crackle and some early repainting. Although one might expect additional elements to the base, there is no evidence to support this. 9-95112 (4,000-6,000)
