RARE COLT MODEL 1855 SADDLE RING CARBINE. CAL. 38. SN: 1498, all matching. 21” part octagonal bbl. The lock screw on the adjustable rear sight at the rear of the bbl is missing. The marking that is usually on the bbl “COLT’S PT. / 1856” and “ADDRESS COL. COLT / HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.” with fancy brackets between is on top of the frame and “PATENTED SEPT. 10TH 1850” in one flute of the 6-shot cylinder. The vent hole cuts through the rear of the first marking. Fancy walnut stock. From the F. P. L. Mills collection, #2 on his inventory. CONDITION: Fine. 90% bright blue on the frame, flaked on the upper tang and lower left side at the front. 50% blue on the cylinder, mostly worn on the top. Bright casehardening colors on the loading lever. Stock has minor dents and scratches but retains most of its finish. 4-52693 FS158 (12,000-18,000)
