FINE COLT REVOLVING RIFLE. CAL. 36. SN: 1038, all matching. 30” part octagonal bbl, marked “COLT’S PT. / 1856” and “ADDRESS COL. COLT / HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.” inside fancy brackets on top of the bbl. The cylinder is etched “COL. COLT’S PATENT” and “SPORTING RIFLE” in two lines on either side of the SN. This rifle is equipped with a pivoting leaf rear sight, a ramrod mounted backwards on the left side of the rifle and an oiler, also on the left side. The cylinder scene has three deer running in a forest, one fallen from the gun of the hunter at the rear of the scene. CONDITION: Fine. 40% blue, mostly on the left side of the frame. Cylinder scene is strong. Traces of casehardening color on the loading lever. Light pitting at the front of the bbl and cleaning rod. Stock has minor dents and gouges but retains much of an old varnish. 4-52699 FS151 (10,000-15,000)
