FINE PAIR OF EUROPEAN TARGET PISTOLS. NSN. Cal. .42. 9-1/2” oct. bbl. Marked “PETER SCHENK” in gold on one bbl and one lock and “IN MARIENBAD” on the opposite lock and bbl, bbls marked “1” and “2” in gold. The same marking is on the lining of the lid. The fancy veneer case has much German silver inlay and contains a bullet mold, a mallet, a cleaning/ loading rod, powder measure, powder dipper, screwdriver with two extra screwdriver attachments and an incorrect powder flask. There are two keys for the lock. Stocks are carved with leaves instead of checkering. A small oval German silver name plate is inlet into the bottom of each stock, both with the initials “JT” in Germanic lettering. CONDITION: The pistols are excellent with 95-98% shiny blue on the bbls. The casehardening on the locks, breech plugs and tangs is dark. The case lid has one crack going completely across and several other partial cracks. Six of the German silver straps are missing as well as two of the German silver inlays on the decoration. The bottom of the case is also broken and missing eight of the German silver straps. The interior lining has mostly faded to a gold color with several rust and oil stains. The locking mechanism has some bends and screwdriver marks. The powder flask base has broken away. 4-48354 (7,500-9,000)
