RARE EARLY AMERICAN MINIATURE SAMPLERS. Circa 18th Century. The larger sampler has a mahogany frame, is dated 1784 and signed by S. Cooper Preston. The alphabet and numbers are stitched clearly in two colors of green and rose. The smaller sampler has a gilt wood frame with the stitching done in multi-colored threads. No date or signature. SIZE: Larger (sampler only) measures 3″ h x 2-3/4″ PROVENANCE: Beverly Darling Collection. CONDITION: Some minor typical fading, overall very good+. 1-7746-12 (500-750)
