SMITH & WESSON NEW MODEL #3 LARGE FRAME REVOLVER. Cal. appears to be 44 Russian. Blued finish, British proofed, 6-1/2” keyhole ribbed bbl, pinned half moon steel front sight, rack and gear model with long housing, 2-pc diamond checkered walnut grips numbered to this revolver. Inside the frame beneath the cylinder is stamped “P. R. & S/Joint Patents/C11272” and there is a small “P” proof in the same area. SN 10318. CONDITION: Good to very good. All matching including the grips. Retains 60-70% flaked original blue overall with scattered fine rust on the bbl. Hammer and trigger guard have traces of case colors with the balance gray. Grips show heavy wear but are sound. Brilliant shiny bore, fine mechanics. 4-47960 JR61 (Anderson Collection) (3,000-5,000)
