SMITH & WESSON NEW MODEL #3 JAPANESE ARTILLERY MODEL REVOLVER. Cal. 44 Russian. Blued finish, 7” keyhole ribbed bbl with pinned half moon steel front sight, usual bbl markings with two lines of Japanese characters on the left side of the ejector rod housing. Fitted with 2-pc monogrammed hard rubber grips and a lanyard loop through the serial number with only the last digit visible. The number “763” has been stamped across the butt. This revolver was shipped August 3, 1889 to M.W. Robinson in New York City. SN 25945. CONDITION: Extremely fine. All matching except the grips which have had the number scratched out. Overall this revolver retains about 90% strong bright original blue with muzzle wear and sharp edge wear with some scrapes around the screws. Cylinder is flaked to a lighter patina. Left grip has a couple of small stress fractures inside and the right grip, a cleverly repaired chip at the bottom. Bore is brilliant and shiny, mechanics are crisp.
