MARTIALLY MARKED SMITH & WESSON NEW MODEL #3 MARYLAND CONTRACT LARGE FRAME REVOLVER. Cal. 44 Russian. Nickel finish, 6-1/2” keyhole ribbed bbl, pinned half moon front sight, smooth 2-pc walnut grips. Bottom of the butt stamped “US” and the bottom of the ejector housing, inside the frame and on the cylinder, with the inspector initials for Henry Nettleton. No cartouche visible on the grip. SN 7198. CONDITION: About good. Approximately 10-15% nickel plating remains on cylinder and the very sheltered areas, the balance being a medium dark patina with scattered rust pits. Grips have a stress crack inside and are worn and smooth with five notches and several dings on the right hand side.
