EDWARD LOYAL FIELD (American, NY, 1856-1914) NEW YORK PASTURES. Oil on canvas, laid on hardboard (but not affixed) of impressionistic landscape scene depicting hilly pastures bisected by stone fence. Probably a Catskills or a Hudson River Valley scene, and probably done in the 1880’s or 1890’s. Signed on reverse of canvas. Housed in a reproduction antique-style gilt gesso frame. Ex the Estate of E. L. Field, (Tovar collection number 16A.) Field studied in France under Carolus-Duran. After returning to the U.S., he became a full member of New York’s prestigious Salmagundi Club. SIZE: 7-1/2” x 9-1/4”. CONDITION: Generally very good. 9-27984 (1250-1750)
