SCARCE SMITH & WESSON #3 AMERICAN 1ST MODEL REVOLVER. Cal. 44 Russian. Blued finish, 6” keyhole ribbed bbl with pinned German silver front sight. 2-pc smooth walnut grips and a lanyard loop in the butt. SN 411. CONDITION: Good. Traces of original finish remain in sheltered areas with the balance of the revolver a medium brown patina. Hammer spur has a welded break and some of the screws have dressed or replaced others are battered. Grips are numbered 16280 and the bbl, latch & cylinder are not numbered to the frame assembly number. Bore is dark and strong with moderate to heavy pitting. Cylinder stop locks on full cock but does not engage when the hammer is down. Grips are undersized and refinished. 4-48017 JR98 (Anderson Collection) (1,250-2,250)
