*MARLIN MODEL 24D PUMP SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 127848. Beautiful high-grade deluxe shotgun with a plain 30” full choke bbl, matted top with very fine raised matted panel on the receiver. It has beautifully grained, extremely fine checkered, French walnut wood with round forearm and semi-pistol grip stock, “S” shaped grip cap with a serrated hard rubber buttplate. The receiver is beautifully engraved with a large oval vignette of four partridge in a mountain scene. The partridge in the foreground is semi-relief engraved. The right side has two vignettes, the larger is a semi-relief standing woodcock with pine forest in the background and the smaller vignette on the bolt has two flying woodcock. The balance of the receiver has about 40-50% coverage, very fine, extremely well executed arabesque scrolls with several different types of border patterns. There are other smaller flourishes of engraving over the top of the receiver and top tang with two nice flowers on the bottom of the receiver. No engraver’s signature was observed. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Bbl retains about 90% dark damascus patterns and the receiver 60-70% original blue. Trigger, screws and pins were all originally gold plated and now retain traces of gold wash on the screws with one screw head retaining most of its gold wash and the firing pin retaining pin retains most of its gold wash. Trigger retains about 60% gold wash. Wood is sound with light handling and use marks and moderate wear and retains most of its original oil finish.
