DOUBLE SAILOR’S SHELLWORK VALENTINE. 2nd half 19th century. Mounted within a hinged octagonal wood case. Each side composed of arrangements of shells, one with a heart and floral motif, the other concentric circles centering an oval of seed shells formed in a mosaic “A PRESENT FROM BARB’D’S [Barbados]”. SIZE: 3-1/2″ h. closed x 9″ dia. PROVENANCE: The Estate of Chad Richards, Camden, Maine. CONDITION: Case with shrinkage crack, shellwork intact. Very good overall. 9-94704 (2,000-4,000)
