TIFFANY STUDIOS DECORATED CUSHION BASE. Bronze begins with a 5” wheel that is supported by a 4” riser that extends up from a three-socket cluster. Supporting the cluster is a vertically ribbed and pineapple midsection that extends down into tendrils leading to more vertical ribbing and terminates with a large pineapple cushion base. Base is signed “Tiffany Studios New York D803” and also carries the Glass & Decorating logo. Base is also inscribed “Luxvicit Philippe Bunau-Varilla à John Bigelow Guerre de L’idee de Panama Contra Lidee de Nicaragua 1892 – 1902 Triomphe de Panama 19 Juin 1902”. Phillippe Bunau-Varilla was the Chief Engineer for the French Panama Canal Co. while John Bigelow whose history is listed below was a major supporter of the Panama Canal.
