RARE INSCRIBED SMITH & WESSON #3 AMERICAN 2ND MODEL REVOLVER. Cal. 44RF. Nickel finish, 8” keyhole ribbed bbl with usual one line markings in a rare caliber with non-locking hammer. Fitted with 2-pc walnut grips. Near the bottom of the backstrap in tiny period engraving is the name “W. Tennant”. One of only approximately 2,100 made in this configuration. SN 25485. CONDITION: Very good. Retains about 85% original nickel turning slightly milky on the frame. Grips are numbered to this revolver and are extremely fine with two notches on the right side and moderate battering on the bottom. Two sideplate screws appear to be replacements and all the screws are slightly battered. Grips are fine with some minor chips on the right side at the frame and retain a fine hand patina.
