EUROPEAN FOOT OFFICER’S SWORD & GERMAN FOOT OFFICER’S SWORD. (1) 30-1/2” blade dated 1853 with various French proof-marks and maker marked “Fonson a Brux”. Scabbard is 25-1/2” leather with brass throat and middle mount. Hilt is typical French-style that Americans copied in 1850. Polished horn grip with twisted wire. CONDITION: Blade is gray with old cleaning marks. Matching patina to scabbard mounts and hilt; scabbard missing drag. (2) German officer’s sword has 33” blade with the motto “Gluck Auf” cast into basket hilt and also etched into blade. CONDITION: Overall very good in metal scabbard with decorated brass mounts.
