WINCHESTER MODEL 1887 DELUXE LEVER ACTION SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 36588. Beautiful ’87 with 30” fine pattern Damascus bbl, 1/2 magazine, case colored receiver, and beautiful 2 to 3X American walnut wood, dbl diamond checkered forend panels and checkered round knob stock with checkered steel buttplate. The receiver has a dbl line engraved border with “WRACO”, in script, engraved on the left side, plain on the right side. Accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum letter identifying this shotgun with “good Damascus bbl” and “fancy checkered stock” and indicating that it was shipped May 18, 1892. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbl retains 96-98% strong original Damascus pattern with light muzzle edge wear. Magazine tube retains 75-80% original blue, worn at the receiver end. Receiver retains 75-80% case colors, muted and faint in some areas, brilliant on the breech block and lever block. Wood is sound with a couple of minor chips by the receiver and a few scattered light handling and storage marks and retains most of its original bright piano varnish finish. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bore with some minor roughness. 4-52919 JR401 (4,000-7,500)
