ETHAN ALLEN MOLDED COPPER RUNNING HORSE WEATHERVANE. 3rd quarter 19th century. Possibly A. J. Harris & Co., Boston, this full-bodied example with old verdegris surface showing vestiges of gilding, with cast-zinc head and serrated sheet metal mane. Mounted on a rod with cast-iron directionals and additional arrow copper weathervane welded to the pole. SIZE: Horse vane: 17-1/2″ h. x 25″ l. Arrow vane: 29″ l. Rod: 37-1/2″ overall l. CONDITION: Horse vane in very good condition overall, old restored bullet holes on back. Directionals and arrow vane in as-found condition. 9-95417 (2,000-3,000)
