SMITH & WESSON #3 SCHOFIELD 1ST MODEL REVOLVER. Cal. 45 Schofield. Blued finish, 7” keyhole ribbed bbl with usual markings on both sides of the ejector housing. This appears to be a martial revolver as there are small “L” proof marks inside the frame beneath the cylinder and on back of the cylinder. No other proofs were observed and the “US”” on the bottom of the butt seems to have been obliterated at the time of the refinish. 2-pc smooth walnut grips. Left grip has the faint outline of a cartouche. SN 1804. CONDITION: Good as refinished. All matching including the grips, retaining most of this blue with some scattered light pitting. Grips have chips at the toes, otherwise are smooth and clean. Strong dark bore that may clean, good mechanics. Battered screws, the rear latch screw probably a replacement. 4-48009 JR91 (Anderson Collection) (1,000-2,000)
