EARLY WINCHESTER HIGH WALL SINGLE SHOT RIFLE. Cal. 32-40. SN 2194. Standard grade rifle with 30” #3 oct to rnd bbl, globe front sight, semi-buckhorn rear sight and a fixed Lyman tang sight with folding head that is adjustable for both windage and elevation. The receiver is unusual in that the receiver ring is faceted with three flats and a chamfered front edge and it is fitted with single set trigger. The wood is straight grain American walnut with nice figure and black insert schnable tip forearm with straight stock and crescent butt. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl retains 96-97% strong blue that may be a very old restored finish. It has a couple of small nicks and a spot or two of light surface rust. Receiver retains 75-80% faded case colors turning silver on the bottom rear edges. Lever retains traces of colors with the balance silver. Set trigger is missing its screw and does not seem to function. Stock has a hairline at the wrist and retains most of its original bright factory varnish with light handling and use scratches & nicks. Forearm is sound and retains a smooth dark old refinish. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bore with scattered light pitting just in front of the chamber. 4-52915 JR405 (3,500-6,000)
