WINCHESTER LOW WALL SINGLE SHOT RIFLE. Cal. 22 LR. SN 71428. Standard grade rifle with extra finish wood. It has 26” #1 oct bbl with globe front sight, a blank in the rear seat and a Marbles spring loaded tang sight for a Model 92 or 94. It has about 2X uncheckered fancy wood with black insert schnable tip forearm and straight stock with crescent buttplate. Accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum letter identifying this rifle and indicating that it was originally shipped with a #1 26” half oct bbl and “fancy wood”. It was shipped July 26, 1895, returned and repaired June 3, 1914, probably when the bbl was changed. CONDITION: Very fine to extremely fine. Bbl retains 97-98% strong bright original factory blue. Receiver retains 85-90% case colors, strong on the sides, fading to gray elsewhere. Wood is sound with minor nicks and scratches and retains most of its bright original factory piano varnish finish. Mechanics are fine, brilliant shiny bore. 4-52532 JR277 (3,000-5,000)
