ERTE (ROMAIN DE TIRTOFF) (Russian, 1892-1990) “4 CHINESE GIRLS “TAPESTRY””. Unsigned gouache costume design showing the Chinese influence in a dragon decorated blue and yellow costume with headdress. Pencil inscribed “Presentation 4 Chinese Girls Tapestry Different Colors”. A letter from Jim Konoske Consulting indicating the piece comes from the Estate of Charles Lemaire. Erte and Lemaire were associates who worked together. This is one of the eleven designs by Erte which were given to Mrs. Teree Peck of Palm Springs. There is a stamp to the left of the head from Weldy Paris, 18 Rue Saulnier. Housed in a modern black frame with wide linen matte and inner gold liner. SIGHT SIZE: 12” x 9-1/2”.
