HENDRIK-DIRK KRUSEMAN VAN ELTON (American, 1829-1904) THE FARMSTEAD. Outstanding oil on canvas scene shows a farm with outbuildings nestled amongst trees on a grassy hillside with hills and mountains. A summer sky with clouds shows approaching stormy weather. A man and boy are seen with ox pulled hay wagon on a dirt road while another works outside the house. Flowers are seen in foreground and houses dot the far hillside. Signed lower right. Housed in its original magnificent gesso decorated gilt frame with gilt liner. SIZE: 10-1/2” x 15-1/2”.
