*WINCHESTER DELUXE HIGH WALL HEAVY TARGET RIFLE. Cal. 22 Short. SN 81324. Fine target rifle with 28-3/4” #3 oct bbl that appears to have been cut from another length. It has windage globe front sight, a blank in the rear seat and a mid-range vernier tang sight. It is fitted with Schuetzen lever and Schuetzen dbl set triggers. It has nicely grained American walnut wood with “H” style checkered black insert schnable tip forearm and heavy Schuetzen style butt stock with checkered wrist and capped pistol grip and heavy Dutch cheekpiece with nickeled iron Schuetzen buttplate. Accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum letter identifying this rifle as having been shipped with a 28” #2 oct bbl and no rear seat, otherwise matches exactly. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbl retains 97-99% strong bright factory blue with minor nicks and scratches. Receiver retains most of its original case colors that are fading with silvered edges. Breechblock has dark case colors and the lever about 30% faded case colors. Buttplate has traces of nickel but is mostly a gray metal color with scattered light surface brown spots. Wood is sound with light surface scratches and some light wear, retaining most of its original strong bright varnish. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bore. 4-52529 JR274 (6,000-10,000)
