ENGRAVED SMITH & WESSON 38 DOUBLE ACTION 3RD MODEL REVOLVER. Cal. 38 S&W. Nickel finish, 3-1/4”’keyhole ribbed bbl with round butt, 2-pc medallion pearl grips. This is a very rare etched engraved model with about 50% coverage foliate arabesque patterns lightly etched on each side of the frame, bbl and the cylinder. SN 230314. CONDITION: Very good, all matching except the grips which are unnumbered. Retains about 75-80% bright nickel worn on the left side of the bbl. The engraving is fine except where the plating is worn and it is quite thin in that area. Grips are beautiful and the medallions retain most of their gold wash. Part of the left escutcheon is missing. Bore is strong and bright with scattered light pitting.
