WHITNEY MODEL 1816 SEA FENCIBLE MUSKET. NSN. 69 Cal. 42” rnd bbl. Marked “N.HAVEN.” in a banner in front of the hammer on the lockplate. There is a “P” cartouche on top of the bbl at the rear alongside the “X” condemnation mark. The large brass buttplate is marked “34” in two different typefaces. “Q” assembly marks on internal lock parts except mainspring screw. It also appears on the frizzen screw. CONDITION: Gray/brown patina overall with light pitting and vise marks at the rear of the bbl. Wood has normal handling marks. Mechanically fine. Wm. Hancock Collection 4-58618 (2,000-3,000)
