17” FRENCH GLASS EYE CHINA POUPEE. A very lovely doll with unusual detail of eyeliner to top and bottom eyelids. She has fine lashes and feathered brows and a beautifully painted smile. She is in original frail costume with a letter of provenance stating that she was a Paris doll brought from Paris in 1860 and given to Ida E. Williks by her father, Joseph Williks in Parisian costume of the time. Signed by Helen Coffin Buchanan. CONDITION: On a sturdy body missing shoes and wig. Costume is frail. Face has beautiful even glaze with one pit on her left lower cheek. A stunning doll. 1-1192 CL 55 (1,500-2,000)
